Everything began with an English-language blog that I wrote and photographed — a blog that introduced and promoted Finnish art to the world.
In 2005, I had an idea that changed everything: INDIVUE took a leap of courage, became an independent blog of its own, and set out from Finland to explore and write about India.

The First Step: Off To India

INDIVUE’s very first post was titled “Off To India”, and its opening line read“I’m going to India next week.”
From that simple sentence began a journey that would take the writer from continent to continent and make INDIVUE one of Finland’s longest-running travel blogs.

I wrote that first post in Helsinki — which is why today I’m celebrating this moment by publishing my video Helsinki Travel Vibes | Scenes from Helsinki in the 2010s.

In 2015, ten years after that first trip to India, I wrote:
“It’s still fascinating to imagine what travel blogging will look like ten years from now.”
At that time, travel blogs had already found their solid place online, but the world was only just entering the era of video blogging, social media, and multi-platform storytelling.
What I could not foresee was the arrival of artificial intelligence — something I now find both exciting and bittersweet.

Two Decades of Digital Travel

And now, in 2025, INDIVUE turns 20 years old.
Over these two decades my blog has grown from a personal travel diary into a multilingual travel and cultural media, showcasing destinations from Finland to India, across Europe, and hopefully in future to the far corners of the world.

INDIVUE has captured thousands of photographs, hundreds of videos, and countless stories about cities, hotels, restaurants, events, and people — everything that makes travelling so meaningful and beautiful.

Now, twenty years later, blogging is no longer just about writing.
It has become visual storytelling — sound, moving image, and community.
Technology has evolved immensely, yet many technical hurdles still appear almost daily, and large software updates can suddenly transform your entire workspace into something completely new and unfamiliar.

What Hasn’t Changed

One thing, however, has remained unchanged: the desire to tell stories about the world honestly, aesthetically, and personally — combining travel, culture, and art.
That was INDIVUE’s original mission in 2005, and the same spark still burns today, even though my heart has never truly been in coding, site maintenance, or SEO — all of which require a surprising amount of dedication.

It would be far easier to organize an art exhibition in a gallery.
But such an exhibition would never reach all the people who might need to see it.
And besides, hosting one would cost about as much as an international trip.

So, the INDIVUE blog continues online — still exploring, still sharing, and still inspired by the beauty of the world.
