Anushka Sharma, born in 1988, is one of those Indian actresses, who started from right from the top. Her first movie Jab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) got immediate five stars out of five from INDIVUE. Her first role was opposite Shah Rukh Khan, who is the King of Bollywood according to many.

After modeling and acting she went on and started also producing films, like NH 10, the movie of which was also seen in a Movie Festival in Helsinki, Finland, back in 2015. A bit more than two years later she herself came to Finland and visited the snowy Lapland during her honeymoon.

So far two of Anushka Sharma’s movies can be found among the Best of Bollywood Movies in this Millennium, and those are Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and PK. Other good movies of hers are for example Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, NH10 and Dil Dhadakne Do.

Anushka Sharma made a remarkable debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in this Aditya Chopra directorial. She played the role of Taani, a young woman who marries a simple, middle-aged man, only to discover his alter ego as a fun-loving dancer. The film was a massive hit and established Anushka as a promising newcomer.

2. Badmaash Company (2010)

In this crime comedy, Anushka starred alongside Shahid Kapoor. She played Bulbul, a smart and ambitious woman who becomes part of a group of friends starting a con business. The film received mixed reviews but was appreciated for its unique plot and performances.

3. Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) ***

Anushka delivered a stellar performance as Shruti Kakkar, a wedding planner, in this romantic comedy directed by Maneesh Sharma. Her chemistry with co-star Ranveer Singh was widely praised, and the film’s success cemented her position in Bollywood.

4. Patiala House (2011)

In this family drama, Anushka played Simran, a pivotal character who inspires the protagonist, played by Akshay Kumar, to pursue his dreams of becoming a cricketer. The film was well-received, and Anushka’s performance added depth to the narrative.

5. Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011)   ***

Reuniting with Ranveer Singh, Anushka portrayed Ishika Desai, a saleswoman who helps a group of women take revenge on a conman. The film was a moderate success and showcased her ability to handle complex characters with ease.

6. Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012) **

9. NH10 (2015)   ***½

Marking her debut as a producer, Anushka starred in this gritty thriller about a couple’s road trip gone wrong. Her portrayal of Meera, a woman fighting for survival, was intense and received widespread critical acclaim.

10. Bombay Velvet (2015)

Set in the 1960s, this period drama directed by Anurag Kashyap featured Anushka as Rosie Noronha, a jazz singer. Despite the film’s commercial failure, her performance was noted for its depth and authenticity.

11. Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)   ***

In this ensemble cast film directed by Zoya Akhtar, Anushka played Farah Ali, a dancer and the love interest of Ranveer Singh’s character. The film was praised for its narrative and performances, adding another successful project to her filmography.

12. Sultan (2016)

13. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) **

Directed by Karan Johar, this romantic drama featured Anushka as Alizeh, a woman dealing with unrequited love and friendship. Her nuanced performance earned her critical praise and several award nominations. I personally wasn’t that much impressed of the film as a whole.

14. Phillauri (2017)

In this fantasy comedy produced by Anushka, she played Shashi, a friendly ghost. The film’s unique concept and her charming performance were appreciated by audiences and critics alike.

15. Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017)   ***

Reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka played Sejal, a lawyer searching for her lost engagement ring in Europe. While the film received mixed reviews, her performance was generally well-received.

16. Pari (2018)

Anushka produced and starred in this supernatural horror film, playing Rukhsana, a mysterious woman with a dark past. Her chilling performance and the film’s eerie atmosphere were praised by critics.

17. Sanju (2018)

In this biographical film about actor Sanjay Dutt, Anushka played a fictionalized character based on a biographer. The film was a huge success, and her role, though brief, was impactful.

18. Sui Dhaaga (2018)
