Here’s a new playlist on my YouTube channel. The playlist is called Indian Kitchen Rocks.

The videos in that playlist will teach you how to cook Indian dishes and the recipes and instructions are available both in Finnish and English languages. And best of all – you can enjoy these videos with the background music!

The videos in this series of Indian kitchen rocks are extraordinary in the sense that I have not photographed them. Instead the videography is done by my good friend who knows to cook Indian food and knows to cook it well. Many thanks to her. My job was to edit, translate and make the subtitles for the videos.

Cooking Toor Dal Fry

At the moment you can find videos of how to make the Indian Toor Dal Fry -lentil sauce, Indian confectionery Besan Burfi and South Indian breakfast Poha.

Ingredients for the TOOR DAL FRY -videorecipe

  • Toor dal, ½ cup
  • Big onion chopped , 1
  • Big tomato chopped, 1
  • Ginger finely chopped, 1 tbsp
  • Garlic, finely chopped, 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves, 10
  • Green chili, 1
  • Coriander leaves, 3 tbsp
  • Red chili powder ¼  tsp or according to taste
  • Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Cumin seed 1 tsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp
Cooking poha

Ingredients for the POHA -videorecipe

  • Poha,  1 cup
  • Chopped onion, 1 cup
  • Chopped tomato, 1 cup
  • Roasted peanut, 1 tbsp
  • Roasted cashew nut, 1 tbsp
  • Green chili
  • Curry leaves, 5
  • Coriander leaves, chopped
  • Lemon, ½ 
  • Oil, 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder, ½ tsp
  • Cumin seed, ¼ tsp
  • Mustard seed, ¼ tsp
  • Salt
  • Turmeric powder ⅛ tsp
  • Jeera powder ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida, 1 pinch

Ingredients for the BESAN BURFI -videorecipe

  • Condensed milk 400g
  • Lentil flour 2 ½ cups
  • Crushed nuts ¼ cups
  • Ghee 9 tbsp

Indian food is at its best meat-free, additive-free and healthy, as the examples in the video show.
