Helsinki centre on Design Week 2018

Keskuskatu, Helsinki, streetview

Helsinki center has cheered up and become more lively after the recent opening of Amos Rex Art Museum there. This inspired me to take a walk in the center, especially since the weather was warm and sunny and Helsinki Design Week 2018 had started.

Keskuskatu, one of the streets in the very center of Helsinki has become a pleasant and stylish pedestrian street over the years. For the time being it also features a Helsinki Design Week 2018 -booth, from which event information is shared both for tourists and local passers-by.

A short walk in the center of Helsinki also stimulated the need for traveling abroad:

Keskuskatu with its tourists reminded me of any European metropolis, and even the helmet wearing passengers with the scooter, queuing in the traffic lights, resembled the streets of Rome.

But when I went to Baana for the first time, the pedestrian/cycling street in the Helsinki center, I was truly fascinated after seeing them benches meant for only one person to sit.

I had admired that kind of benches earlier in Stockholm and wondered why we don’t have them in Helsinki. And now found out that all this time they might have existed by this pedestrian street, which has been easing the life of the cyclists as well in the Helsinki center since 2012.

Yes, I really walked through the promenade for the first time in 2018. And I must admit – it was a refreshing experience.

I liked it even more than the lovely bike / pedestrian streets in Copenhagen, as “hygge” as they might be, since in Helsinki the road was much more spacious and safer for its passengers.

Afternoon car jams were only humming somewhere far off in the upper air when I walked from Kamppi to Kiasma, the museum of contemporary art, towards Oodi, the new and magnificent library being built in Helsinki.

The capital of Finland is really changing for the better. It’s really worth for tourists to come and bloggers to blog.

Helsinki Design Week is a 13 year old annual event presenting Finnish design in Helsinki, and this year’s novelty is the Children’s Design Week. You can find the entire Helsinki Design Week 2018 -program at https://www.helsinkidesignweek.com.

Ordinary summer day in the Helsinki centre (video)

In the beginning of this week Helsinki was in the limelight for a short moment. Helsinki, the capital of the most happiest country in the world, like many studies say.

Well, here’s a video about the ordinary summer day in the areas familiar to tourists in the centre of Helsinki, Finland.

Indivue recommends: Helsinki, and other tweets, from February 2017

As I mentioned in my previous post, Indivue is also active in the social media, both in Finnish and in English.

Twitter Analytics tells in its summary that one year back, in February 2016, Indivue made

  • 24 Tweets in a month, which had altogether
  • 2,844 Tweet impressions, which led to
  • 507 Profile visits

And one year later, in February 2017, Twitter Analytics tells that Indivue made

  • 45 Tweets in a month, which had altogether
  • 3848 Tweet impressions, which led to
  • 863 Profile visits

Those impressions are a lot more than what happens with a regular Facebook Page, according to Facebook analytics. Facebook gives your posts hardly any visibility, unless you pay money to them, because in Facebook only money talks. That’s what I’m told.

So, I’m really curious to know, will it make any difference in the Twitter Analytics if one re-blogs the tweets, which have already been made. – Since those hashtags in tweets are forever valid and very much up-to-date, why not re-read!

Consequently, here are the

Best of Indivue tweets in February 2017

In February Indivue tweeted about Jaipur, the so called Pink City in India, in the state of Karnataka. In the video tweeted, the images and music are all by Indivue, as usual.

Indivue tweeted also about Gokarn, which is a lovely small village in the state of Karnataka on the West coast of India, little bit south from Goa.
The link in the tweet takes you to some photos from Gokarn, a few years back from now.

Some ten years back I posted my first videos to YouTube. They were about sightseeing Mumbai and I had put some Bollywood hit music on the background.

What happened then was, that YouTube banned that video, because some big international music company had made a complaint, since their music was being used for free in that video.

So, ten years later, the music in this video will be composed by me only.

Despite of the previously mentioned harsh attitude of a big international company, Indivue has been blogging in Finnish about Bollywood and Hindi cinema for some ten years now, and in February 2017 discussed about the Bollywood premieres of 2017.

Here’s the tweet:

The Article of the Month of February 2017 in the Finnish Indivue site was about the best Bollywood movies of this millennium, 2000-2016. Reviewed by Indivue.

Although that article is in Finnish, it is very easy to understand in any language, and is very useful, so do take a look if you’re into Hindi cinema! What makes this article so special is that these Bollywood movie reviews are based on subtitles and Western upbringing. So it might differ from the Indian taste.

You might also wonder how on earth did one get to see all these movies in Finland, since they didn’t come from the Finnish cinema or theatres, and the fact is – one had to go and buy them from India. Most of them.

Nowadays there are also some Indian movie premieres coming to Finnish theatres, as can be read from the Finnish site of Indivue. So times they are a-changing. For the better.

With the tweet Ideas for Rome Indivue shared recent travel tips and ideas for Rome, Italy. Check them out if you’re planning to travel there!

Whereas the article of India photography shared some photos blogged in www.indivue.blogspot.com during the past ten years.

The video Lost & Found from Goa beach conveyed one hot sunny afternoon from Goa beach itself.

And near the beach, where the previous video was made, is located one beautiful Goan five star hotel, which is Park Hyatt Goa. Indivue stayed there and made an article about it in Finnish – Take a look.

Perhaps fulfill your dream and have a stay? Taste the best food ever.

And then, last but not least, in February Indivue tweeted all these images of Helsinki summertime, with the link to reviews and hints of good Helsinki sights.

Those reviews and hints are in English, so make sure to check them out with time – Helsinki really is a beautiful and safe summertime city to travel to!

Beautiful beaches of Vuosaari

Vuosaari has got to be the most beautiful part of the capital of Finland, Helsinki, with its forests and beautiful beaches by the sea, where nature is very much alive and present.

You can get to Vuosaari easily by metro from the Helsinki centre, or even straight by ship from Germany. Have not yet tried that ship though, but it’s on my list.

Smaller boats will take you to Kaunissaari and Hakaniemi from Vuosaari during summertime, and nowadays even supping is also common there. It looks like a fun thing to do!

Picnic by the Vuosaari beach is a nice timepass on a sunny day during summertime and there’s also a few nice restaurants and cafes worth paying a visit.

In the video attached you can see few of them Vuosaari beaches during summer, with images and music by Indivue.

Here’s a video which will take you from Helsinki to Barcelona by aeroplane.

Back in the end of September Barcelona was very sunny and warm, some 25 degrees.
